The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake with magnitude 4.2 that occurred 6 km west-northwest of the city of Uauna, Washington State. The epicenter was located at coordinates 47.400° N, 122.722° W, at a depth of approximately 28 km. The event was recorded on September 29, 2026 at 21:05 Coordinated Universal Time. The PAGER impact assessment system assigned the event a GREEN level, which indicates minimal risk of significant damage and casualties. The ShakeMap seismic intensity map showed maximum intensity at level III (weak), while reports from eyewitnesses through the "Did You Feel It?" service recorded intensity up to IV (moderate) — tremors were felt by at least 9,500 people who reported their observations to the USGS website. The Puget Sound Bay area, where Uauna is located, is in a seismically active zone due to its proximity to the Cascadia subduction zone. Earthquakes with magnitude above 4.0 in this region occur periodically and, as a rule, do not cause serious damage at such depths. There are no reports of casualties or material damage at this time. USGS specialists continue to monitor seismic activity in the region.
