The European Commission has announced the disbursement of another tranche of financial assistance to Ukraine totaling €2.9 billion. The funds are intended to support the country's financial needs and ensure the uninterrupted operation of public administration amid ongoing Russian aggression. According to a press release published in Brussels on October 2, 2026, €800 million of this amount was provided for the first time under the Ukraine Support Loan component of the Ukraine Facility mechanism. This instrument is part of a broader program of financial support for Ukraine from the European Union, aimed at strengthening the country's economic resilience during the war. The European Commission emphasizes the importance of preserving the stability of Ukraine's state institutions, which allows the country to continue functioning and defending itself against external aggression. The allocation of funds is also linked to the continuation of reforms that Ukraine is carrying out under its agreements with the EU. The Ukraine Facility is a long-term financial assistance mechanism established by the European Union to support Ukraine during martial law and its subsequent recovery. This marks another step in the large-scale assistance program the EU has been providing to Kyiv since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.
