The second day of the 8th Annual Capital Markets Seminar, jointly organized by the European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), took place in Luxembourg. Commissioner for Budget and Reform Piotr Serafin delivered the keynote address, welcoming participants on behalf of the European Commission. In his speech, the Commissioner highlighted the importance of such meetings for coordinating the efforts of European institutions in developing capital markets. He stressed that deepening the integration of the EU's financial markets remains one of the key priorities of the bloc's economic policy, as it fosters more efficient allocation of capital, stimulates investment in strategic sectors, and strengthens the resilience of the EU economy to external shocks. The seminar traditionally brings together representatives of financial institutions, regulators and experts to discuss pressing challenges in capital markets, including the completion of the Capital Markets Union, improving access to financing for businesses, and strengthening the role of the euro in international financial markets. The event is held annually with the participation of three key European institutions — the European Commission, the EIB and the ESM — and is regarded as an important platform for dialogue between policymakers and financial sector representatives on strengthening Europe's Economic and Monetary Union.
