The United States Navy accepted a new production C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin. The handover ceremony took place in Marietta, Georgia, where one of the company's main facilities for producing military transport aircraft is located. This event is regarded as the initial stage of a major program to modernize the US Navy's strategic communications systems. Based on the accepted aircraft, plans call for creating a new platform — the E-130J Phoenix II, which is to replace aging airborne command posts used to ensure communications with nuclear forces and provide strategic command and control of forces. The new aircraft should enhance the reliability and security of communications channels, as well as expand data transmission capabilities in the face of modern threats. The E-130J program is being implemented as part of broader Pentagon efforts to modernize an aging military aviation fleet, much of which has been in operation for several decades. The transition to the new platform is expected to improve the readiness and effectiveness of the US strategic command and control system.
