The European Commission in Brussels has presented a new Climate Resilience Framework Programme (EU Framework for Climate Resilience), which aims to strengthen Europe's capacity to anticipate, prepare for, and effectively respond to climate risks. The document is considered part of a broader EU strategy for adapting to climate change and protecting the population, economy, and infrastructure from its consequences. According to the Commission's statement, the initiative is aimed at creating a more prepared and protected Europe in the face of growing climate threats, including extreme weather events, floods, droughts, and forest fires, the frequency and intensity of which have been increasing in recent years. The Framework Programme envisages coordination of actions between EU member states, strengthening of early warning systems, and enhancing the resilience of critical infrastructure. The initiative aligns with the European Union's overall course towards achieving climate neutrality and adapting to the already inevitable consequences of global warming. The new programme is expected to complement existing EU mechanisms for climate risk management and serve as a foundation for further legislative and financial decisions aimed at enhancing the resilience of European regions to climate change.
