The European Commission has announced approval of Czechia's seventh and final payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) — a key instrument of the NextGenerationEU program. The approved tranche amounts to €951 million. The NextGenerationEU program was created by the European Union to support member states in recovering their economies from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to promote green and digital transition. The Recovery and Resilience Facility is its central component, providing countries with grants and loans conditional on the implementation of agreed reforms and investment targets. Czechia, like other recipient countries, was required to meet a series of milestones and targets set out in its national recovery plan in order to qualify for each payment tranche. The approval of the seventh tranche indicates that the country has fulfilled the necessary conditions to receive this portion of financing. According to the European Commission, this payment is the final one under Czechia's approved plan, effectively concluding the process of fund disbursement to the country under this program. The decision was announced in a press release published in Brussels. The NextGenerationEU program overall remains one of the largest fiscal support instruments in the history of the European Union, through which member states receive funds to modernize their economies, infrastructure, and social sphere in exchange for implementing structural reforms.
