In the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, preparations continue for the Artemis III mission. On August 25, 2026, technicians began moving RS-25 engine No. 2 to the work stand, where engine No. 3 is already located, for subsequent integration with the core stage of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. A total of four RS-25 engines will be installed in the rocket's structure, which will deliver the Orion spacecraft carrying a crew of four astronauts to low Earth orbit. At launch, these engines will collectively generate thrust of more than two million pounds, which is necessary for the successful launch of the mission. Artemis III is part of NASA's program to return humans to the Moon and will be an important milestone in exploring the lunar vicinity before future missions to Mars. Preparation of the engines and rocket stages is being conducted in accordance with the high standards of safety and precision required for crewed spaceflight.
