The European Commission has announced financial assistance to three EU member states under the NextGenerationEU program. According to the published press release, France received €6.1 billion, Austria €306 million, and Luxembourg €92.2 million. Thus, the total amount of payments reached nearly €6.5 billion. The payments were made on October 30, 2026. The NextGenerationEU program is an economic recovery fund for the European Union, created to support participating countries following the COVID-19 pandemic and to stimulate the green and digital transition. Funds are allocated in stages as countries implement agreed reforms and investment targets set out in their national recovery and resilience plans. The European Commission regularly assesses the progress of member states in achieving the planned indicators, after which it makes the next tranches of financing. This decision continues a series of payments that the EU is making to recipient countries under the largest recovery program in the history of the union.
