NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has been transported to the hangar of SpaceX, located at Launch Complex 39A of the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The delivery took place on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The telescope was housed inside a protective payload fairing that ensures its safety during transportation and subsequent launch into space. This stage is part of the final preparations for the mission's launch. The Roman telescope is being developed by NASA as a next-generation instrument for studying dark energy, dark matter, and exoplanets, as well as for conducting wide-angle infrared surveys of the sky. It is expected to significantly expand the capabilities of astronomical observations thanks to its wide field of view, comparable in sensitivity to the Hubble Space Telescope. The spacecraft is scheduled to be launched using SpaceX's rocket from Launch Complex 39A — a historic site previously used for Apollo missions and shuttle launches. The relocation of the telescope to SpaceX's hangar indicates that the final stages of pre-launch preparation, including final inspections and integration with the launch vehicle, are approaching completion.
