The British Fair Work Agency has successfully recovered over £59,000 in unpaid wages on behalf of five workers employed through an IT agency. According to the agency, the employees had not received their due payments despite having actually worked the hours. Following a complaint to the agency, an investigation was initiated, which resulted in establishing violations and securing compensation for the affected workers. This case represents another example of the Fair Work Agency's work protecting workers' rights, particularly those employed through agencies who often find themselves in a more vulnerable position compared to permanent employees. Cases of wage non-payment to agency workers remain a widespread problem in the labour market, and such investigations are intended to ensure compliance with employment law by employers and employment agencies. Representatives of the Fair Work Agency stressed the importance of workers seeking help when their rights are violated, noting that timely intervention enables fair compensation to be achieved. The case also serves as a reminder to employers and recruitment agencies of their obligations to pay all categories of workers, including temporary and contract workers, promptly and in full.
