The opening ceremony of the 26th General Assembly of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) took place in the Croatian city of Split. The event brought together deans, rectors, and representatives of maritime educational institutions from around the world, as well as official representatives of the European Union. European Commission Commissioner Dubravka Šuica delivered a welcoming address to the assembly participants, including the president of the International Association of Mediterranean Universities and other distinguished guests. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of maritime education and international cooperation in training personnel for the maritime industry. The IAMU Assembly traditionally brings together educational institutions engaged in training specialists for maritime transport, shipping, and related sectors. The event serves as a platform for exchanging experience between universities from different countries, discussing new educational programs, and strengthening partnerships in the maritime sector. The participation of a European Commission representative at the opening ceremony underscores the EU's interest in the development of maritime education and support for international cooperation in this field. Split, chosen as the venue for the assembly, is one of the major port and university centers of Croatia, making it an appropriate platform for such international forums.
