NASA specialists using the IXPE spacecraft (Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer) have for the first time conducted direct measurements of the magnetic fields of pulsar PSR J1101−6101. This object is located within a nebula that, due to its characteristic shape, is called the 'Lighthouse Nebula.' To analyze the structure and characteristics of the magnetic fields, scientists additionally employed data from the Chandra X-ray observatory, which allowed them to obtain a more complete picture of the pulsar's radiation and its surroundings. The obtained results help better understand the physical processes occurring near neutron stars, as well as the mechanisms of formation of nebulae associated with pulsars. The study of magnetic fields in such objects is important for investigating extreme astrophysical conditions that cannot be reproduced in Earth laboratories. Thus, the joint work of two NASA space observatories has made a significant step in the study of pulsars and their interaction with the surrounding environment.
