At the UN Security Council meeting devoted to the situation in Kosovo, Britain's political coordinator Jennifer McNulty made a statement. In her remarks, she said that the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia remains the most important factor in ensuring long-term stability in the Balkans. The British representative emphasized that the international community continues to closely monitor developments in the region and urges the parties to engage in constructive dialogue. According to her, sustainable peace and security in the Balkans directly depend on the willingness of Belgrade and Pristina to resolve existing disagreements through diplomatic means. The issue of normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia has been raised repeatedly at various international forums, including negotiations mediated by the European Union. Britain, as a permanent member of the Security Council, traditionally supports the dialogue process between the two sides and advocates for compliance with previously reached agreements. The Security Council meeting on Kosovo is held on a regular basis as part of monitoring the implementation of Resolution 1244, adopted in 1999, which formed the basis for the international presence in the region following the military conflict. During such meetings, Security Council members hear reports on the current situation and express the positions of their states regarding further steps to stabilize the situation. Britain expressed hope that the conflicting parties will continue to work on fulfilling their obligations and will avoid actions capable of destabilizing the situation in the region.
