The European Commission has announced the launch of the T-MED investment platform, aimed at mobilizing large-scale investments in renewable energy and clean technologies in Mediterranean countries. The initiative provides for the provision of EU guarantees of up to €4.5 billion, which is intended to stimulate the attraction of private and public capital to green energy development projects. The platform is a key component of the Trans-Mediterranean Renewable Energy and Clean Technologies Cooperation Initiative (T-MED), which in turn serves as the flagship project of the broader Mediterranean Agenda. This agenda is aimed at strengthening economic and environmental ties between the European Union and countries of the Mediterranean region. According to the initiative's architects, the guarantee mechanism should reduce risks for investors and accelerate the implementation of solar and wind energy projects, as well as develop infrastructure for clean energy transmission. The platform is expected to facilitate the energy transition in both EU countries and partner states in the region, while strengthening energy security and sustainable economic development on both sides of the Mediterranean. The platform's launch took place in Brussels and was presented as part of a broader European Union strategy to expand cooperation with neighboring countries in the field of climate and energy.
