The UK Government has announced an expansion of the exporter support programme through UK Export Finance (UKEF). The changes will affect the General Export Facility — a mechanism that provides government guarantees for financing British companies operating in foreign markets. Under the new terms, more companies will be able to apply for financing, and the process of obtaining funds will become faster. The maximum support per exporter will be up to £15 million. One of the key goals of the reform is named as supporting trade and economic ties with Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict. Expanded access to financing should help British companies increase supplies and investments related to the recovery of the Ukrainian economy and infrastructure. UKEF is the UK's official export credit agency and provides guarantees and loans that reduce risks for banks lending to exporters. Expanding selection criteria will allow coverage of a wider range of companies, including small and medium-sized businesses that previously may not have met programme requirements. Government representatives note that simplified access to financing aligns with the overall strategy for strengthening the country's export potential and supporting allies amid geopolitical instability. The new measures are expected to come into force in the near future, with their impact manifesting in increased volumes of export contracts for British companies, including those related to Ukraine's recovery.
