Over 400 schools located in disadvantaged communities will receive financial support as part of a new government initiative. The total investment will amount to £22.5 million. In addition to direct funding, schools will receive customized methodological and organizational support aimed at expanding students' access to additional developmental activities. The programme is expected to reach hundreds of thousands of children, many of whom previously had limited access to extracurricular activities due to socio-economic challenges in their areas. Such activities may include sports clubs, creative workshops, cultural and educational excursions, as well as other forms of leisure that contribute to the comprehensive development of children. The initiative is regarded as part of broader efforts to narrow the gap in educational opportunities between students from different social backgrounds. The programme's creators emphasize that access to enriching extracurricular activities plays an important role not only in academic achievement, but also in developing social skills, self-confidence, and overall child wellbeing. Schools selected to participate in the programme are expected to receive not only funding but also consulting support for effective planning and implementation of new activities in the school curriculum. This should help educational institutions with limited resources organize quality programmes that were previously unavailable to them. This measure aims to create more equal conditions for children from different social backgrounds and increase their chances of a successful future through expanded educational and developmental opportunities.
