Sellafield, which operates one of the UK's largest nuclear facilities, presented its experience in implementing continuous improvement practices at the General Assembly of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), held in Japan. The event brought together over 400 representatives from the nuclear industry from 38 countries, making it one of the largest international platforms for knowledge exchange in the nuclear energy sector. Sellafield representatives told their colleagues about methods for improving operational efficiency and safety that are applied at the site as part of a long-term development strategy. The experience of the British company generated interest from the international community, as continuous process improvement remains a priority for nuclear plant operators worldwide. WANO unites operators of nuclear power plants and nuclear facilities from different countries with the aim of raising safety standards and operational reliability. General assemblies of the organization are held regularly and serve as a platform for sharing best practices among national operators. Sellafield's participation in such events underscores the UK's role in shaping international standards for nuclear facility management and developing approaches to continuous improvement of operational processes in the industry.
