British Charge d'Affaires and Deputy Ambassador James Ford made a statement at an OSCE meeting in which he condemned the ongoing and intensifying Russian strikes against civilian infrastructure facilities on Ukrainian territory. According to him, such attacks constitute a gross violation of international humanitarian law and cause serious harm to the country's civilian population, depriving it of access to energy supply, water, and other vital resources. Ford also noted Russian attempts to divert international attention from the consequences of its actions and shift responsibility to other parties to the conflict. The British representative emphasized that such rhetoric does not reflect reality and cannot serve as justification for the ongoing bombardments. In his statement, the British diplomat again called on Russian leadership to cease strikes on civilian objects and fully comply with obligations arising from international humanitarian law. He stressed that the protection of civilians and objects not constituting military targets remains a key principle of international law in the context of armed conflict. The statement was made as part of regular consultations in the OSCE format, where participating countries discuss the situation in Ukraine and possible paths to conflict resolution. Britain continues to provide diplomatic support to Ukraine and regularly condemns Russia's actions on international platforms.
