The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has reported possible signs of an early start to the flu season this year. According to the agency, although the overall incidence rate remains low, it exceeds the levels recorded in the same period over the previous four years. In response, UKHSA has urged everyone who is eligible for free flu vaccination to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Risk groups traditionally include older people, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, as well as children and healthcare workers. Experts at the agency note that early vaccination is particularly important during periods when faster virus transmission is observed, as it helps reduce the burden on the healthcare system during winter months, when multiple respiratory infections may circulate simultaneously. UKHSA continues to monitor the epidemiological situation and warns that data may change as the season develops. The agency recommends that the public follow official updates and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms of flu appear, such as high fever, cough, sore throat, and general weakness.
