Probiotics helped corals survive a heat wave in the Red Sea

Scientists treated part of a coral reef off the coast of Saudi Arabia with a mixture of beneficial bacteria taken from healthy corals, and during a severe heat wave in 2022, these corals, unlike untreated ones, avoided bleaching.
